Pharmacy is the science of developing medicines and drugs through research, to help cure diseases and to improve the standard of health. This field has contributed to the advancement of medicine & drugs, from the discovery of medicine for life-threatening diseases to a wide range of medicine available for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
A pharmacist studies all phases of a drug, namely its discovery, development, action, safety, formulation, use, quality control, packaging, storage, marketing, etc. Thus, pharmacy has evolved into a hub for Global Healthcare" and evolved as a multidisciplinary, versatile curriculum.
After class 12, you have a variety of options for pursuing a pharmacy degree, including enrolling in a diploma program. To pursue a degree in pharmacy, you must complete the 10+2 science course with physics, chemistry, maths, and biology. Once you have passed the board exams, you must pass the relevant entrance exam.
After graduation, interested candidates can pursue higher education like a Master's followed by a Ph.D. or they can start working. Diplomas last for two years, graduations last for four, and master's last for two. Nowadays, several universities offer integrated pharmacy programs that combine with bachelor's and master's degrees.
Course Levels :
Diploma in Pharmaceuticals - 1.5 years with a lateral entry in the second of the graduation college.
Masters - 2 years
Doctorate
Eligibility : 10+2 with science subjects such as PCM, PCB, or PCMB along with English as a compulsory subject
Students possessing 10+2 qualification from non-formal based schooling such as NIOS and state-based open schooling are not eligible for the B Pharmacy course
You are expected to clear the relevant entrance exam of that respective institute or university. Also, there are universities that have now started offering Pharm. D as an option for which entry is based on the entrance exam scores. It is a year's course duration after class 12th
Existing Entrance Tests: NEET, PU CET, MHT CET, BITSAT, MET, MAHA CET, KCET, UPSEE, GPAT, NIPER JEE, CUET, CEE AMPAI, KLEU, AIET etc.
Neverthless, pharmacy aspirants can even attempt TOEFL, GRE, IELTS, etc. if they wish to get employed overseas.
