  • After Class 12th (Science)Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) with at least 60% marks.  Pass the IMU CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) to secure admission to maritime courses.

  • After GraduationEngineering graduates, especially in mechanical, electrical, or civil fields, can join the Merchant Navy through specialized postgraduate courses.

2.  Medical and Physical Requirement: 
Good physical fitness and medical health are mandatory. 
Eyesight should be 6/6 with no color blindness.

3.  Courses and Training Programs
Several specialized courses are available depending on your desired department such as -

Deck Department :
B.Sc. Nautical Science (3 years)
Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS), leading to a B.Sc. (1 year).

Engine Department : 
B.Tech. in Marine Engineering (4 years)
Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) for mechanical engineers (1 year).

4.  Catering Department :
Certificate courses for cooks, stewards, and other hospitality-related roles.
