Commercial Pilot License in India

A Commercial Pilot is a trained professional who operates the flying controls of a commercial aircraft. The person needs to have a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under the government of India to qualify as a Commercial Pilot.

Commercial Pilot License (CPL):

This course offers 200 hours of flying training. This 8-10 months course offers dual/ solo, general flying, circuit & landing sorties. Instruments and cross country flights, skill tests, route checks and night flying rating as per DGCA requirement.

This license is valid internationally. He / She can be employed as a pilot in Government and civil airlines or in private / corporate companies / flying clubs and has a wide variety of career opportunities.

Two routes to train as a Commercial Pilot:

# Route 1: Get a Commercial Pilot Licence from any of the flying schools recognised by the DGCA. 

# Route 2: Enroll in a Cadet Pilot Programme run by one of the airlines operating in India.

CPL Eligibility Criteria :

• The minimum age limit for CPL is 17 years, and the maximum age limit is 60 to 65 years and a 6/6 vision.

• A candidate should have passed or appeared in class 12th with physics, chemistry and mathematics as the main subjects.

• A candidate should have scored a minimum aggregate of 50% passing percentage to get admission in CPL.

• The student needs to pass 2 medical tests to become eligible for CPL, as per DGCA requirements.
